What is our current growth plan?

Hillsborough County including the three cities of Tampa, Temple Terrace and Plant City  are planning for the future using their Comprehensive Plans and Land Development Codes to guide growth and development.  

Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plans define general land uses and establishes maximum intensities and densities.  The Comprehensive Plan also identifies the Urban Service Area – the area inside which, growth is encouraged and outside which, the community takes on a rural character.  Inside the USA, commute times are reduced with fewer vehicle miles travelled, and centralized services are provided, reducing infrastructure expansion costs.

Land Development Code
Land Development Codes includes rules to ensure that the County’s Comprehensive Plan is implemented.  This document defines how development and building will occur in given zoning districts.
