What is a Comprehensive Plan?

Each of the four jurisdictions have their own comprehensive plan.

The Comprehensive Plan is a published document, formally adopted by each jurisdiction, and its purpose is to provide long-term direction for the growth and development of each community.

State law requires that every jurisdiction in Florida must have a comprehensive plan, and the City’s land development regulations must be consistent with the direction of the plan.

The comprehensive plan is a state-mandated, legally required document by the State of Florida.  It serves to guide growth, anticipate the future costs of growth and ensure there is appropriate infrastructure available for new development.
