This section of the website highlights past plans, documents, maps and images of the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County. Here you can find resources, comprehensive plans, and much more historic information related to planning in Hillsborough County.

Included here are two collections of planning documents. One collection includes plans that predate the existence of the Planning Commission. The other section includes Planning Commission documents up through 1980.

George W. Simons Jr. is recognized as one of Florida's first professional planners. Simons came to Jacksonville in 1916 to serve as a sanitary engineer for the State Board of Health, a position he held until 1925.

This collection of aerial photographs of Tampa from 1957-1960 were shot from an oblique angle and were used in rezoning cases. As time permits, additional images from the Planning Commission's archive will be placed online.

A small (but growing) collection of historical maps ranging from the beginning of the twentieth century to the late 1980s. Several of these maps are owned by the Supervisor of Elections and were used to determine voting precincts in the 20s, 30s, and 40s. (more)
