I-4 Corridor Study Team to Hold Public Workshop on November 5

The I-4 Corridor Core Study Team will present the final phase of research results at a public workshop on November 5, 2008 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Trinkle Center on the Plant City campus of Hillsborough Community College (1206 North Park Road, Plant City).

There will be a 45-minute presentation made by staff to update the public on the study’s progress followed by a question and answer period. The presentation will include designating target industries for the corridor, preferred locations for target industries, range of high wage employment, expanded study area for the I-4 corridor, land costs associated with preferred locations and the protection of environmental resources.

The BOCC identified the need to provide quality employment opportunities in Hillsborough County through office and high technology light industrial uses and directed the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission and the Hillsborough County Planning and Growth Management Department to study the economic potential of the Interstate-4 corridor. The study is a shared effort by staff of Hillsborough County, The City of Plant City, the City of Tampa, the City of Temple Terrace, area Chambers of Commerce and citizen representatives.

After receiving input from citizens at this workshop, the Study Team will launch into an analysis phase. This phase will utilize information obtained in the initial phase to evaluate employment potential and requirements necessary to meet our local economic needs. The Study Team will schedule additional public workshops to review potential recommendations. Comments or questions can be addressed by staff through email or telephone.
