The Planning Commission’s role is to promote and coordinate comprehensive long-range planning, growth-management, transportation, and environmental protection, as it makes its recommendations to Hillsborough County and the three cities.
Planning Commission Service Hours & Due Dates Changes: We have had to limit our time of availability to Mondays - Thursdays and utilize Fridays for Staff work, analysis and reports.
Citizens, property owners, the Planning Commission, City Council or County Commission and other public agencies may request plan amendments. The staff reviews, processes, and provides recommendations on amendments to the Comprehensive Plans.

Planning Commission staff is available to assist the public in verifying the future land use designation on parcels within each jurisdiction.
Planning Commission staff is available to assist the public on rezoning issues that may affect a parcel or parcels of land within each jurisdiction. Staff will assist citizens in understanding the relationship between zoning and land use designations and whether a potential rezoning may be consistent with the Comprehensive Plan.
The Planning Commission staff prepares and compiles data for planning purposes. This information, such as population and housing unit estimates, is available through our website.
The staff of the Planning Commission, in coordination with the planning departments of Hillsborough County, Tampa, Temple Terrace, and Plant City, develop mid-range plans for communities and neighborhoods.
The Planning Commission maintains a comprehensive collection of maps and geographical information systems applications online for use in planning and visualization by agency staff, officials and citizens.
