The Transportation Modeling & Special Projects Group is responsible for forecasting future travel using population and employment projections based on the Future Land Use Plans of the various jurisdictions.

The Transportation Modeling & Special Projects Group is responsible for forecasting future travel using population and employment projections based on the Future Land Use Plans of the various jurisdictions. The group also maintains a database of roadway and travel characteristics for all major roadways in Hillsborough County, and generates maps based on these data. Group members are responsible for the MPO's Congestion Management System (CMS), freight and goods movement planning, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) plans. Drawing on this and other information, the group updates related components of the Long Range Transportation Plan. Also, the group annually updates the five-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and performs air quality analysis as required.
