About RSS News

This site supports RSS 2.0, a Web content syndication format. Its name is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication, and it is used by hundreds of different news reader programs, many available for free. RSS is a method of summarizing the latest news from any RSS enabled website in a form that is easily read by news readers or news aggregators. This provides users with the latest news and updates from multiple websites in a headline format, with links to the original pages.

RSS news readers make it easy to keep track of news and content on dozens of Web sites you normally follow without having to take the time to visit each site individually.  The news (press releases) page on the Planning Commission's site is configured as an RSS news feed. To use our RSS feed, you need a feed reader or news aggregator installed on your computer, or you need to use one located on Internet.

There are many free news readers available, such as www.busternews.com, which can be accessed thru any browser.

The Open Directory Project has a good list of feed readers and news aggregators at http://dmoz.org/Reference/Libraries/Library_and_Information_Science/Technical_Services/Cataloguing/Metadata/RDF/Applications/RSS/News_Readers/

Microsoft has a technical help page discussing how to use RSS.
